How to Pack for Your Move, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Moving can be very demanding and stressful at the same time. It will require much of your time and energy and it can be really exhausting. As you go through your items, you will realize that you have a lot of things that you need to get rid of.

If you are going to relocate in Sioux Falls and you have fragile items that you need to pack, it will be wise to hire a Moving Company to help you with the process. We understand that you want to save on money when you move that is why packing some of your items on your own may be helpful. Here are some crucial tips to help you pack your fragile items.

Prepare Your Box

It is important to fill the bottom of the moving box with packing paper. This will provide protection and a good cushion for your fragile items. It is also advisable to pack your fragile items in a smaller box before putting them in your moving box. It would also help to use a durable box to avoid potential breaking of items inside the box.

Create an Efficient Workspace

It is more recommended to pack fragile items on the floor instead of doing it on a table. Keep everything you need near, including scissors, bubble wrap, and boxes. When you are packing glass items such as pitchers and vases, it is more advisable to use the bubble wrap technique.

The Bubble Wrap Technique

  • Start by gathering the items and supplies that you need. Make sure that you have the bubble wrap and large pieces of cardboard to enclose the items.
  • Wrap the items with cardboard. Place the cardboards on opposite sides of the item.
  • Between your fragile item and the cardboard, you should place the bubble wrap to keep the item safe.
  • Tightly wrap the bubble wrap around the item.
  • Envelop the tape with tape ensuring that the fragile item will not slip. Tape the item securely by placing more cardboard on the open ends.
  • Lastly, put the package in a secured padded box and put more items to make sure there are no spaces that will cause it to shift.

Tissue Paper Technique

  • When packing stemware, it may be best to purchase a cell box. It is a sturdy box that has dividers where you can place your glasses in.
  • Use plain packing paper and not the printed ones because the ink may rub off.
  • Put tissue paper inside the glass globe and make sure that the glass is filed.
  • Pile several layers of tissue paper where you work then roll the glass to be enclosed by the tissue. Make sure that you insert the remaining tissue into the glass globe and around the base.
  • Pack the item in a tight padded package then place them into the cell box, the first going in first.
  • Repeat the steps for all the remaining glass globes until the box is full.
  • Check the flaps and give a gentle shake to check if it still rattles. If it does, add more packing paper to secure it.

Once done with all the steps, do not forget to label the box "fragile."
